Vagus Nerve

Did you know? The Vagus Nerve controls & regulates things such as heart rate, breathing, respiration, digestion, hormone control, & much more! The Vagus Nerve begins in the brainstem and branches through the spine to the esophagus, digestive tract, reproductive organs, heart, lungs, & loads of others.

The Vagus Nerve is part of your parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) which is busy slowing your heart rate, regulating your breathing, controlling smooth muscle in the body, and directing orders to the organs of your digestive system. Chiropractic plays an important role in reducing chronic disease through adjustments which directly influence vagal nerve function.

Chiropractic care deals with subluxations (spinal misalignments that cause interference in your nervous system) and the Vagus nerve is greatly affected by chiropractic care! If the spine is altered in its positioning, the information to and from the Vagus nerve becomes interrupted causing everything it supplies to become dysfunctional. When a chiropractor adjusts the spine (particularly upper cervical), this restores the flow of information leading to a happier, healthier you!
